KFC Creates PC Game Where You Date an Anime Colonel Sanders

KFC anime game

KFC created an anime-style dating simulator that will let you romance the fast food chain’s mascot Colonel Sanders. (Seriously.)

The game—called “I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator”—features an unsettingly young and handsome version of Colonel Sanders drawn as an anime character. It will be available on Steam as a free title for PC and Mac.

“Yes, this is a real game!” a KFC spokesperson told PCMag in an email. The fast food chain created the simulator in partnership with developer Psyop in the hopes of expanding KFC’s customer base.

“KFC is always looking for ways to reach niche communities in unexpected—but authentic—ways, creating compelling experiences that these communities will seek to be a part of,” the spokesperson added.

KFC has indeed come up with some pretty novel marketing campaigns in recent years, using an assortment of male and female celebrities to portray Colonel Sanders. But this new take is definitely unexpected, although it’ll probably catch the attention of anime fans.

The game itself appears to be a 2D visual novel that’ll offer you choices to determine the storyline. It promises “multiple hours” of playthrough, “cooking battles,” and a secret ending.

According to the game’s description, you’ll play as a student who has the chance to date classmate, Colonel Sanders, at a culinary school. “Will Colonel Sanders choose you to be his business partner? Or maybe even so much more? Find out in the most finger lickin’ good dating simulator ever created—a game that KFC actually made,” the description goes on to read.

The game will launch on Steam Sept. 24 at 8 a.m. EST, and KFC says it’s appropriate for all ages.
